Paul Strecker était un artiste et écrivain allemand qui a peint et conçu des décors d'opéra et de théâtre. Entre 1919 et 1922, Strecker a étudié l'art à l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Munich, puis pendant deux ans à l'Académie des Arts de Berlin. À l'été 1924, il passa une longue période à Rome pour étudier les œuvres de grands maîtres 

Strecker a déménagé à Paris en 1926 pour travailler comme peintre indépendant jusqu'à l'occupation nazie, date à laquelle il s'est enfui dans le sud de la France. En 1945, il est retourné en Allemagne, s'installant à Berlin. En 1946, il a commencé à travailler comme décorateur pour l'Opéra d'État de Berlin et, la même année, est devenu professeur à l'Université des Arts de Berlin et, peu de temps après, est devenu professeur titulaire.

Strecker était membre du Berliner Neuen Gruppe.

Strecker moved to Paris in 1926 to work as a freelance painter until the Nazi occupation, when he fled to the south of France. In 1945 he returned to Germany, settling in Berlin. In 1946 he began working as a set designer for the Berlin State Opera and, in the same year, became a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts and, soon after, became a full professor.

Strecker was a member of the Berliner Neuen Gruppe.
