Géza Szóbel est un peintre franco-hongrois né en 1905 à Komárom. Sa première exposition a lieu au Palais culturel de Komárom à l'âge de 23 ans. Plus tard, il est admis à l'Académie des Beaux-Arts
de Prague, puis il s'installe à Paris, où il devient l'élève de Fernand Léger.
Les mouvements de la peinture française moderne ont considérablement influencé ses œuvres.
Après un séjour à Berlin, il est attiré par l'expressionnisme allemand. Puis il décide de retourner dans l'autre capitale de l'avant-garde, Prague. Sa deuxième exposition a eu lieu à Bratislava
en 1934. Il rejoint l'armée tchèque en 1939 et est un artiste de guerre. Il a passé quelque temps à Londres à la fin de la guerre. Enfin, il s'installe à Paris avec sa femme, où
il se lie d'amitié avec des artistes d'avant-garde tels que Chagall, Le Corbusier, Aragon, Lucien Hervé et les Delaunay.

admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, then he moved to Paris, where he became a student of Fernand Léger.
The movements of modern French painting significantly influenced his works.
After a stay in Berlin, he was attracted by German expressionism. Then he decided to return to the other capital of the avant-garde, Prague. His second
exhibition took place in Bratislava in 1934. He joined the Czech army in 1939 and was a war artist. He spent some time in London at the end of the war. Finally, he moved to Paris with his wife,
where he became friends with avant-garde artists such as Chagall, Le Corbusier, Aragon, Lucien Hervé and the Delaunays.
